ABSTRACT

Dodge’s type I continuous sampling plan (CSP-1 plan) can be used for the process control. Both the maximum value of the average outgoing quality (AOQ) and the average fraction inspected (AFI) are the indices to measure the performance of the plan. Short-run or low-volume production refers to processes that generate only a small number of items at any one time. This paper presents how to calculate the average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) for short-run CSP-1 plan based on numerical method. We further modify Wang and Chen’s formulae and adopt the conventional Newton’s method for finding the approximate AOQL for CSP-1 plan with specified production run length.
