ABSTRACT

The present paper is a report on a study which tried to determine the best way of allocating the budget available to the Qazvin Electric Distribution Company in Iran in order to optimally decrease energy loss in an affiliated distribution network. Five methods of loss reduction were compared in terms of the degree of loss reduction and cost-effectiveness. The budget to be assigned to each method was determined. The results show that the budget should only be appropriated to capacitor placement, replacement of dilapidated conductors, and load imbalance adjustment, in that order.

Keywords: Available Budget, Loss Reduction, Load Imbalance Adjustment, Capacitor Placement, Dilapidated Conductors
