To preserve and promote this traditional cultural art form, this study proposes a puppet operation system and 23-degree-of-freedom robot hand to operate a puppet. <sup><\/sup>The system can be employed to retain and retrieve the 3D gestures of professional puppet operators and control the proposed robot hand for<sup><\/sup> complete imitation of the gesture trajectory of puppeteers.
